Week 10 ~ Evaluation

As the first ten weeks of the music production course draw to a close, I’m thinking back on an immensely varied and interesting experience that has greatly broadened my musical horizons and improved my comprehension of production processes. These past several weeks have been an amazing adventure that has improved my technical abilities and given me priceless insights into what it means to be a producer. The opportunity to experience a diverse range of musical genres-some of which I was completely unfamiliar with- has been one of the most exciting parts of this semester. It was enlightening to investigate genres that I may not have personally explored, such grunge and breakcore. It helped me to understand the variety of musical expression, the distinctive qualities of every genre, and the sophisticated production methods used in them. My creative palette has been expanded by this exposure, which has inspired me to try out new sounds and genres in my own works.

In, addition, the previous several weeks have been a voyage of self-discovery. By experimenting with various genres and production techniques, I’ve been able to better identify my own musical tastes, strong points, and places for improvement. Finding my own voice and style as a producer and discovering what speaks to me both artistically and personally have been the processes involved. This self-awareness is really helpful since it helps me make better creative decisions early on in my musical career.

In conclusion, these past 10 weeks have been transformative. They’ve not only equipped me with technical skills but also opened doors to a deeper understanding of music production, and most importantly, myself as an artist. I can’t wait to use these fresh perspectives and methods in my next work as I continue to develop and hone my skills as a music producer.
